CX wrap-up 2014
I really do love cyclocross
Ya I kinda hate those pre-race jitters, pre-race wanting to take a nap, pre-race wanting to throw up (only a little), but it's all part of game right? And then when you finish and let your racing heart calm down a little, you look back and think, ya that was awesome. And you can't wait for next weekend.
Well this time, there isn't a "next weekend" because it was the Waves For Water UCI race which, this year, was more or less the wrap up for the northwest cx season. I'm slowly making my way toward the next stage of the traditional upgrade program (it goes Cat 4 > Cat 3 > Cat 2 > SS, just so you know) so I tested the waters of the single-speed category that weekend. Which was awesome because: racing with friends, less jitters, more tasty handups, and all the fun of actually watching the elite race, not getting lapped in it.
It was a fine wrap-up to the season if you ask me, although we'll get to have another wrap-up in a few weeks in Austin, which basically can't come soon enough. See you there!
